About Me

Melissa Mashaba - Clinical Psychologist

At the heart of my work is creating a space where you can feel safe, heard, and supported. I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, especially with someone you don't know, and this can sometimes prevent people from taking that first step.

My goal is to provide a warm, non-judgmental, and personalised environment where you can openly explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we focus on building resilience, fostering self-understanding, and supporting your journey toward meaningful personal growth and well-being.

I have earned all three of my degrees at North West University. I achieved my Bachelors in Psychology in 2018, Honours in Psychology in 2020, and my Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2024.

As part of my training and professional development, I completed my internship at Weskoppies Hospital, one of Gauteng's largest psychiatric facilities, and my community service at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, serving both the male and female units.

My Approach

An integrative approach tailored to your unique needs

In therapy, my aim is to use the modalities that best support each client's unique needs, making my approach integrative. This allows me to draw from a range of techniques and tools to help you achieve your personal goals and growth.

My foundational approach is Person-Centered Therapy, which provides a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where you can feel truly heard and understood.

Within this supportive space, I incorporate Schema Therapy to explore deeper patterns and beliefs formed early in life, helping to uncover the unconscious influences on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

I also use elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for addressing unhelpful thought patterns. Above all, my focus is on creating a safe, confidential space where you can explore, grow, and build resilience while working toward meaningful and lasting change.

Services

Comprehensive psychological care tailored to your needs

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, I take an integrative approach, drawing from a range of evidence-based techniques to tailor the process to your specific needs, goals, and experiences.

This flexible approach allows us to work not only with the challenges you're facing but also with your strengths, supporting both personal growth and resilience. Together, we'll create a space where you can gain insight, develop practical tools, and move forward in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to you.

Psychological Assessments

This process involves using a range of tools such as interviews, questionnaires, observations, and standardised tests, to explore cognitive abilities, emotional functioning, behaviour, and overall mental health.

Assessments can support diagnosis, guide treatment planning, and assist with educational, forensic, or vocational needs. I also provide evaluations related to personal injury, trauma, and mental health claims, including work with the Road Accident Fund.
